Serbian Bean-Soup

200 g cannellini beans (dried)
or 400 g can beans 
150 g breakfast bacon
1 onin
3 tbsp. oil or lard
1 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. sweet paprika
1 bay leaf
1l beef stock (cube)
salt, pepper, marjoram,thyme
doush of vinegar



 Soak beans overnight, add salt and bay leaf, then bring to the boil and simmer for approx.1 hour. Cut bacon in small cubes. Heat oil or lard in a pot and fry bacon cubes until crispy. Add small chopped onion and stew until translucent. Reduce heat, add flour and sweet paprika, sauteé lightly for 10 seconds. Pour in the stock, seasoning and simmer 15 minutes. Stir in the beans and simmer for a further 5 minutes. If you use can beans , rinse, draine and add for the last 5 minutes too.
